Pregnancy loss affects as many as 1 in 4 pregnancies. So many people carry the pain of pregnancy loss with them silently, not having a time, a place, or a way to mourn. Acknowledging loss and Jewish ritual help heal.
October is Pregnancy and infant Loss Remembrance Month, honored on October 15th. The Bay Area now has a place in the Memory Garden at the Eternal Home cemetery for the Jewish community to gather, remember and support those who have experienced pregnancy loss.
Hasidah, Sinai Memorial, and Jewish Family and Children’s Services will be collaborating to offer an opportunity for those who have experienced a pregnancy loss to acknowledge their loss, experience communal and Jewish support and receive comfort. We hope this is the first of an annual community program.
Personal Connection
Talking relieves isolation. You may also get a different perspective, gain information, process your experiene, get unstuck, or learn about a new resource. Hasidah staff is available to speak with you to make this happen.
Holding Hope
Led by Hasidah clergy faculty, these programs address some of the common issues people face during infertility using a Jewish lens. Sessions may include an activity and are usually discussion based.
Hasidah programs address topics including financial planning, making decisions, dealing with loss, and navigating the use of third party reproduction. You need knowledge to move forward; you also need time to consider the effects of your decisions for you now and in the future. These programs bring Jewish wisdom and current expertise to you so you can work through the the various challenges of infertility from a place of strength.
